Hi there, I’m Lucia Davies, the founder of Lucia’s World. We are a unique creative self-publishing and digital learning platform designed for children. Our mission is to entertain, educate, and inspire people across the globe through the power of storytelling.

Lucia’s World is an app that actually encourages kids to get off apps. We promote reduced screen time, outdoor play, and learning through collaborative activities in nature. With the worrying decline in children’s mental health since the pandemic, many parents and teachers have raised serious concerns about the negative effects of excessive screen time, digital addiction, and exposure to inappropriate content. Lucia’s World is part of the solution.

Our platform allows children in schools to personalise and print their own books because we believe in the enduring value of real, physical books. Recent statistics show that fewer than three in ten children aged 8 to 18 read books in their free time. My fun, interactive stories aim to change this by developing various literacy skills while also imparting important moral messages. Themes include kindness, anti-bullying, recycling, eco-friendliness, and protecting our planet.

Our content has a meaningful impact, helping young children and their families develop positive growth mindsets, build resilience, and cultivate empathy and compassion for others. Lucia’s World is primarily aimed at children aged 2 to 11. We’ve also made our stories accessible by incorporating British Sign Language (BSL), enabling deaf and non-verbal children to enjoy the content while also teaching the language in preparation for secondary school.

As you can probably tell, I’m deeply passionate about child development, equality, and welfare. I’ve worked with tens of thousands of children throughout my career, providing entertaining and educational play therapy sessions in hundreds of schools for vulnerable children in care. I’ve also supported children in hospitals, hospices, and adoption settings. On a personal note, I adopted my beautiful daughter Frankie in 2011 as a single mum. Becoming a writer gave me the flexibility to work more from home and build a personal online brand, allowing me to focus on Frankie’s wellbeing and long-term success. Frankie is now a wonderful teenager.

After four years of bootstrapping, sweat equity, and initial seed investment to develop the app, we are ready to launch. We hope to continue touring schools with our workshops and assemblies, and we have big plans for the future, including an eye-gaze technology feature and a multilingual option.
